Collaboration Built on Reliability and Continuous Improvement

Tell us a little about ICA Kvantum Lerum!

– In February 2026, we celebrate 30 years as an ICA store in Lerum. During that time, we have grown from a neighbourhood grocery store into a modern food market – what we call Lerum’s food hall. In addition to a full-scale grocery store, we have a bakery and patisserie, our own fish counter and two restaurant kitchens where we prepare up to 3,400 meals every week. We butcher our own meat and have a fully stocked delicatessen counter. Every week, we serve around 35,000 customers and have 240 employees.

How long have you been working with Karlborgs?

– Well, I must have known Jonas Karlborg for more than 20 years – going all the way back to his time as a refrigeration technician at Butiksbyggarna. I have always seen him as a reliable, skilled and committed partner.

What does your collaboration involve?

–I usually say that every development project starts with two holes in the wall. Karlborgs helps us with everything electrical – lighting, refrigeration, heating, ventilation, new equipment, online order collection units, EV charging stations, solar panels and more.

Peter Tranberg, our go-to person at Karlborgs, is a real all-rounder and knows the store inside and out. He knows how everything works, which gives us great peace of mind.

What have you achieved together?

– Reliable operation, continuous improvements and a range of energy-saving measures. We have installed more than 850 solar panels on the roof, converting solar energy into electricity through inverters. Other examples of improvements and energy-efficiency measures include EV charging stations in the car park, LPG vending machines, online order collection, more efficient LED lighting and refrigeration systems.

What do you appreciate about Karlborgs?

– They are reliable, highly skilled and take full responsibility if something goes wrong – which rarely happens. They know our facility inside and out, which makes the work more efficient, and they are able to work independently. Simply put, they are a partner you can rely on.
